Moduverse - Technical Information about the Basestructures used in Collaborative Creations

Moduverse

Moduverse is a modular base standard used by Finnish LUG Palikkatakomo Ry in collaborative layouts. One module is 6 plates high and measures 32x32 studs, same as regular smaller baseplate. However, the construction does not use actual baseplates.

Construction from base to top is plate-plate-brick-plate. The brick layer should have TECHNIC holes at least two studs from the corners (see picture). The full layer may consist of TECHNIC bricks. Edges visible on the collaboration layout should be made black, using either TECHNIC bricks or regular ones. If not enough black bricks and plates are available, the edge may be covered with black plates. This isn’t, however, preferred.

Naturally, a model may be bigger than one module – it is possible, for example, to build a larger house on 64x64 module.

If the landscape of a module consists of various colours, it is important to offer pictures to neighbouring builders so that the boundaries look natural.

The road module

Palikkatakomo Ry’s collaborative city layouts, the Moducities, feature SNOT roads. These feature asphalt built using black bricks and a yellow central axis (dashed line, four-stud-long black and yellow plates, with two-stud-long black lines on both ends). One sidewalk is six studs wide, the other eight studs wide. They are built using light bley of old light grey plates. See LDD file for closer information.
